On June 30, 2023, the University and Columbia Postdoctoral Workers union reached a tentative agreement. On July 16, 2023, the union ratified the agreement.
Interim Provost Ira Katznelson issued the following statement when the tentative agreement was reached:
"The University is very pleased that we have reached a tentative agreement with the representatives of Columbia Postdoctoral Workers (CPW-UAW), with whom we have engaged in rigorous and respectful negotiations. We believe that all the parties have secured a fair and thoughtful set of arrangements that enhances the standing of this vital community of researchers and scholars and that will help underpin the highest levels of intellectual accomplishment and personal fulfillment. We look forward to fully implementing the provisions of the agreement once it is ratified."
